Keto is amazing.
And while Keto might be the best nutritional choice of your life, it’s not always the easiest or most social one when on the road.
As someone who’s been living the Keto Lifestyle for years here in Berlin, I’ve created a list of the 10 best Keto Friendly Dishes and Restaurants.
Update: While creating this list, I realized it’s much easier to list the dishes first, and then the Restaurants on where to find them. Why? Because: There are no “Keto-only” Restaurants in Berlin.
Berlin’s 10 best Keto Friendly Dishes
Here’s the list I wish I had when I started my Keto Journey in Berlin. We’ll go from cheap and available to more fancy and exclusive.
Rotisserie Chicken (Snack)

City Chicken (My Favourite in Neukölln) and all the other Chicken Fast Food Chains like Risa Chicken (all around Berlin), etc. offer tasty Rotisserie Chicken.
Other popular options at these are Chicken Wings and Chicken Salads.
When in doubt, there’s always one close.
Grilled Sausages alias “Bratwurst” (Snack)

Whether it’s the famous Berliner Currywurst (careful with the high carb sauce) or any other grilled German sausage we call “Bratwurst”.
A suitable Imbiss/Bistro is never too far from where you are at this very moment.
Where to find it: Simply follow this Google Search to see the ones closest to you.
What to look out for: Go easy on high carb sauces like Ketchup or Curry. Often times they have a lot of added Sugar.
Lettuce Wrapped Burgers (Snack/Sit-In)

Berlin has plenty of amazing Burger Options. Ist must admit, I don’t typically eat a Burger without a bun, because if I go for a Burger, I want the real (carb) thing.
However, most Berliner Burger Joints offer a Keto-friendly option by swapping the bun for lettuce wrap (or sometimes even a Portobello Mushroom) if you’re into that kinda thing.
Where to find it: Popular chains like Peter Pane, Hans im Glück, and Five Guys have it. But also most smaller Burger Joints. Just ask for “no bun” and they’ll find a way. You won’t be the first to ask. Promise.
What to look out for: The quality of meat vastly differs from Burger joint to Burger joint and so will the price. If the place looks cheap, don’t eat there.
Kebap Box alias “Dönerbox” (Snack)

You can’t visit/live in Berlin and not have a German Kebap (Döner) every once in a while or the closest Keto Version of it: A Dönerbox.
It’s a Salad and Döner Meat, mixed with sauces and herbs in a Box. Hence the name, Dönerbox. It’s one of my favourite ways to enjoy a quick Keto snack on the go.
When ordering, they will typically ask you if you want the fries or the salad version. Prompt them correctly and you’ll love what you’re going to get.
Where to find it: Pretty much every Döner Imbiss offers the Dönerbox. No need to look for a specific location. Just type “Döner” in Google Maps.
What to look out for: The quality of meat. There’s many places selling you low quality meat with artificial flavour enhancers. Therefore, try to opt for chicken or the “non-minced” calf meat.
Beef Soup alias Keto Phó (Sit-In / Restaurant)

Not popularized yet is one of my favorite new Keto dishes: Keto Phó. Best at the very locally positioned District Mot in Berlin Mitte.
What is it? It’s the infamous Vietnamese Phó Beef Noodle Soup where glass noodles have been swapped for Zoodles (zucchini noodles).
An absolute Keto favourite of mine when in Berlin Mitte. Don’t miss it.
Halloumi Makali (Sit-In)

Halloumi = Cheese, Makali = Fried Vegetables. If you order a plate instead of a sandwich, you are in for a Keto treat!
If you like or want to try low carb oriental food, this is the one.
Where to find it: Pretty much everywhere, where you’ll find a decent Falafel. Link: All Halloumi Makali Places in Berlin. My favourites are: Basmah (Kreuzberg) Yusef (Neukölln), Zaim (Charlottenburg).
What to look out for: When ordering Halloumi Makali, ask them to skip the potatoes or other starchy vegetables or sides (hummus) and they will simply add more of the rest. Tell them to skip the bread as a side.
Salad Bowls (Sit-In)

“Make your own Bowl” is an obvious Keto friendly choice.
While it does not feel like eating out in a fancy restaurant it offers you a healthy, high quality lunch option, e.g. while roaming the city with your friends.
Where to find it: All Salad Bowls in Berlin
What to look out for: It might get a bit pricey, but you usually also get high quality ingredients in comparison to the “snack” options.
Eggs (Sit-In/Brunch)

How would you like your eggs?
Most Breakfast and Lunch places offer you the option to create your own breakfast. This is perfect for Keto, as you can simply choose not to eat the carb dishes without making any custom requests.
Where to find it: Follow this Google Search. Amongst my favourites are: The Venue (Neukölln).
Salad + Protein (Restaurant)

Almost every Restaurant will offer a Salad + Protein option, no matter the cuisine. This is your safe bet when you’re eating in a proper Restaurant with your friends.
Steak (Restaurant)

The number of Steak Houses in Berlin is immense and the quality is also high end.
Personally, I don’t typically go out for a Steak, because I make an amazing one at home. However, if you’re visiting a Steakhouse might be the best high quality Keto solution for you.
Beuster Bar (Neukölln)
La Buvette (Prenzlauer Berg)
In many Burger Joints, Steak Houses, etc.
Folge diese Google Suche für eine gute Übersicht.
Fish (Restaurant)
Brasserie November
Fish Klub
Funky Fish Berlin
Fischladen
Restaurants
Now that we’ve gone through the most popular dishes and options, let’s look at a few Restaurants I really enjoy eating and where I’ve always been able to find a Keto friendly Solution.
Tisk Kitchen (Neukölln)

Why not eat fancy and Keto at the same time? Tisk is the most exclusive Restaurant and will be an experience to remember.
